About This Course

Every part of Spry relies upon an understanding on the underlying data structure of your model. Whether you're importing your first set of data, updating your existing data or manipulating it through scripts the information in this course provides the backbone of your understanding.

By the end of this course you should be able demonstrate the following:
  • An overall understanding of how Data is stored in Spry
  • Creation of Data Tables, Levels, Positions, Fields and Ranges (Picked and Text)
  • Customisation of Fields for aggregation, string and visual formatting
  • An understanding of the difference between an Index and a Name in Levels and Positions and how to change the index of a Position
  • Formatting Data for Import into Spry through an understanding the unique nature of the combination of Positions that forms a Leaf
  • Importing Data into Spry and basic troubleshooting of this process
  • Navigation through a Data Table once Data is imported
  • An understanding of the differences between Picked and Text ranges and the pros/cons of both
  • An understanding of the three main Text Range tools (Wildcard, Span and Comma)
  • Exporting Data (including Spry XML Structure) from Spry for further processing, model transfer or combining models
  • Creation of and adjustment of Table Plots
  • Usage of the Centroid Calculator and Solid Advance Direction tools
  • An understanding that Data Tables contain Constants, not Variables

Requirements

This is the fundamental starting point for Spry training so there are no prerequisites other than access to a current version of Spry.
